New 10-year G-sec Paper yield closes at 7.76%
The yield on 10-year benchmark federal paper, 8.40% GS 2024, eased by
08 basis points (bps) to close at 7.95% compared with 8.03% close in the
previous trading session and the new 10-year benchmark federal paper,
7.72% GS 2025, yield also eased by 09 bps to end at 7.76%, compared with
7.85% close in the previous trading session. The total trading volume
on central bank's gilts trading platform stood at Rs 58,585 crore.
Bond yields eased and bond prices increased the most in five weeks on
speculation that demand for Indian assets will rise after the Federal
Reserve said it will raise interest rates gradually.
The weighted average rate in the overnight call money increased to 7.03%
compared with 6.98% in previous session. The call money rate hovered in
the range of 5.80% to 7.25% with the volume of Rs 9245.62 crore.
