Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 789 crore on Friday, 17 April 2009, much higher than Rs 395.80 crore on Thursday, 16 April 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 789 crore on 17 April 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2547.60 crore and gross sales Rs 1758.60 crore. The BSE Sensex gained 75.69 points or 0.69% to 11,023.09 on that day.
FII inflow in April 2009 totaled Rs 4,277.10 crore (till 17 April 2009). FII outflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 2,394.60 crore (till 17 April 2009).
There are a total of 1638 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
