Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 395.90 crore on Thursday, 16 April 2009, much lower than Rs 772.20 crore on Wednesday, 15 April 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 395.90 crore on 16 April 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 3019.30 crore and gross sales Rs 2623.40 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 337.33 points or 2.99% to 10,947.40 on that day.
FII inflow in April 2009 totaled Rs 3,488.10 crore (till 16 April 2009). FII outflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 3,183.60 crore (till 16 April 2009).
There are a total of 1638 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
