Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net sellers for the first time in ten trading sessions of this month as they sold shares worth a net Rs 345.70 crore on 14 May 2009.
FII outflow of Rs 345.70 crore on 14 May 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 1523.40 crore and gross sales Rs 1869.10 crore. The BSE 30-share Sensex slipped 146.74 points or 1.22% to 11,872.91 on that day.
FIIs were net buyers of Rs 4085.20 crore on 13 May 2009 boosted by shares bought in DLF, Unitech and Suzlon Energy in bulk deals.
FII inflow in May 2009 totaled Rs 9270.40 crore (till 14 May 2009) while their inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 9627 crore.
There are a total of 1650 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
