Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net equity buyers as they bought shares worth a net Rs 146.90 crore on Thursday, 21 May 2009. They had sold shares worth Rs 234.10 crore on Wednesday, 20 May 2009. FIIs have been on a buying spree this month as they remained net buyers in 13 out of 15 trading sessions.
FII inflow of Rs 146.90 crore on 21 May 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 3896.40 crore and gross sales Rs 3749.50 crore. The BSE 30-share Sensex lost 324.12 points or 2.31% to 13,736.54 on that day
FII inflow in May 2009 totaled Rs 15281.60 crore (till 21 May 2009) while their inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 15638.10 crore.
There are a total of 1656 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
