Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1491.20 crore on Monday, 4 May 2009, much higher than Rs 344.50 crore on Wednesday, 29 April 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 1491.20 crore on 4 May 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 3852.80 crore and gross sales Rs 2361.60 crore. The BSE Sensex jumped 731.50 points, or 6.41%, to 12,134.75 on that day.
FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 2203.90 crore (till 4 May 2009).
There are a total of 1641 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
