Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 688.30 crore on Wednesday, 6 May 2009, a little lower than Rs 695 crore on Tuesday, 5 May 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 688.30 crore on 6 May 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2,857.20 crore and gross sales Rs 2,168.90 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 178.33 points, or 1.47%, to 11,952.75 on that day.
FII inflow in May 2009 totaled Rs 2,874.40 crore (till 6 May 2009). FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 3,587.20 crore (till 6 May 2009).
There are a total of 1643 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
