Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 695 crore on Tuesday, 5 May 2009, much lower than Rs 1,491.10 crore on Monday, 4 May 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 695 crore on 5 May 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2969.10 crore and gross sales Rs 2274.10 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 3.67 points, or 0.34%, to 12,092.96 on that day.
FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 2,898.90 crore (till 5 May 2009).
There are a total of 1642 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
