Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) offloaded shares worth a net Rs 722.32 crore during the previous trading session on Friday, 24 April 2015, which was sharply higher than their outflow of Rs 84.75 crore during the preceding trading session on 23 April 2015.
The net outflow of Rs 722.32 crore on 24 April 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6284.13 crore and gross sales of Rs 7006.45 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 723.21 crore from the secondary equity market on 24 April 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6282.90 crore and gross sales of Rs 7006.11 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had lost 297.08 points or 1.07% to settle at 27,437.94 on that day, its lowest closing level since 14 January 2015.
There was a net inflow of Rs 0.89 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 24 April 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 1.23 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.34 crore.

They have bought shares worth a net Rs 44009.60 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015 so far (till 24 April 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 97055.90 crore in the calendar year 2014. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 84440.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2014.
