FIIs continue selling

Outflow of Rs 246.50 crore on 6 August 2009

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 246.50 crore on Thursday, 6 August 2009, lower than Rs 480.40 crore on Wednesday, 5 August 2009.

FII outflow of Rs 246.50 crore on 6 August 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2580.90 crore and gross sales Rs 2827.40 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 389.80 points or 2.45% to 15,514.03 on that day.

FII outflow in August 2009 totaled Rs 43.20 crore (till 6 August 2009). FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 36,126.50 crore (till 6 August 2009).

There are a total of 1682 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
