Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 301.40 crore on Thursday, 20 August 2009, much lower than Rs 872.10 crore on Wednesday, 19 August 2009.
FII outflow of Rs 301.40 crore on 20 August 2009 was a results of gross purchases Rs 1777.60 crore and gross sales Rs 2079 crore. The BSE Sensex gained 202.68 points or 1.37% to 15,012.32 on that day.
FII outflow in August 2009 totaled Rs 697.70 crore (till 20 August 2009). Foreign funds had bought equities worth Rs 11,625.20 crore in July 2009. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 35,472 crore (till 20 August 2009).
There are a total of 1684 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
