Purchases worth Rs 311.30 crore on 10 July 2009
Mutual funds (MF) have bought equities in three out of the past four trading sessions. MFs bought stocks worth a net Rs 311.30 crore on Friday, 10 July 2009, higher than Rs 257.20 crore on Thursday, 9 July 2009. A sell-off in index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) triggered a sharp fall on the bourses in the last one hour of trade on 10 July 2009. The BSE 30-share Sensex fell 253.24 points or 1.84% to 13,504.22.
The net inflow of Rs 311.30 crore on 10 July 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 729.40 crore and gross sales Rs 418.20 crore.
On a cumulative basis, mutual funds have sold stocks worth a net Rs 162.30 crore in the first few days this month (till 10 July 2009). Mutual funds had bought stocks worth Rs 839.30 crore in June 2009.
