Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1,031 crore on Wednesday, 15 July 2009, much higher than Rs 452.90 crore on Tuesday, 14 July 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 1,031 crore on 15 July 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2,887.50 crore and gross sales Rs 1,856.50 crore. The BSE Sensex surged 399.54 points or 2.88% at 14,253.24 on that day.
FII inflow in July 2009 totaled Rs 5,116.20 crore (till 15 July 2009). FIIs had bought stocks worth a net Rs 3,224.90 crore in June 2009. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 29,660.40 crore (till 15 July 2009).
There are a total of 1673 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
