Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 706 crore on Monday, 20 July 2009, much higher than Rs 260 crore on Friday, 17 July 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 706 crore on 20 July 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2,578.90 crore and gross sales Rs 1,872.90 crore. The BSE Sensex surged 446.09 points or 3.03% at 15,191.01 on that day.
FII inflow in July 2009 totaled Rs 6,374 crore (till 20 July 2009). FIIs had bought stocks worth a net Rs 3,224.90 crore in June 2009. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 30,918.20 crore (till 20 July 2009).
There are a total of 1678 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
