Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 50.10 crore on Tuesday, 21 July 2009, much lower than Rs 706 crore on Monday, 20 July 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 50.10 crore on 21 July 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2,547.40 crore and gross sales Rs 2,497.30 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 128.52 points or 0.85% at 15,062.49 on that day.
FII inflow in July 2009 totaled Rs 6,424.10 crore (till 21 July 2009). FIIs had bought stocks worth a net Rs 3,224.90 crore in June 2009. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 30,968.30 crore (till 21 July 2009).
There are a total of 1676 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
