Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 190.40 crore on Monday, 13 July 2009, as against an outflow of Rs 623.20 crore on Friday, 10 July 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 190.40 crore on 13 July 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2,071.50 crore and gross sales Rs 1,881.10 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 103.90 points or 0.77% to 13,400.32 on that day.
FII inflow in July 2009 totaled Rs 3,632.30 crore (till 13 July 2009). The strong inflows this month reflected subscription by foreign funds to qualified institutional placement by Indian firms. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 28,176.50 crore (till 13 July 2009).
There are a total of 1674 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
