FIIs step up selling

Outflow of Rs 711.90 crore on 16 June 2009

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 711.90 crore on Tuesday, 16 June 2009, much higher than Rs 231.30 crore on Monday, 15 June 2009.

FII outflow of Rs 711.90 crore on 16 June 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 1,862.30 crore and gross sales Rs 2,574.20 crore. The BSE Sensex rose 82.39 points, or 0.55%, to 14,957.91 on that day.

FII inflow in June 2009 totaled Rs 5189 crore (till 16 June 2009). FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 26,508.40 crore (till 16 June 2009).

There are a total of 1665 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
