FIIs continue buying

Inflow of Rs 617.90 crore on 1 June 2009

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 617.90 crore on Monday, 1 June 2009, lower than Rs 834.20 crore on Friday, 29 May 2009.

FII inflow of Rs 617.90 crore on 1 June 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 3,798.50 crore and gross sales Rs 3,180.60 crore. The BSE Sensex rose 215.38 points, or 1.47%, to 14,840.63 on that day.

FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 21,937.30 crore (till 1 June 2009).

There are a total of 1661 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
