Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 834.20 crore on Friday, 29 May 2009, much lower than Rs 2,129.10 crore on Thursday, 28 May 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 834.20 crore on 29 May 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 5,979.30 crore and gross sales Rs 5,145.10 crore. The BSE Sensex surged 329.24 points or 2.3% to 14,625.25 on that day.
FII inflow in May 2009 totaled Rs 20,606.80 crore in May 2009. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 21,319.40 crore (till 29 May 2009).
There are a total of 1661 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
