Mutual funds resumed buying of equities, purchasing stocks worth a net Rs 93.50 crore on Tuesday, 1 September 2009, compared to sales of Rs 87.30 crore on Monday, 31 August 2009.
The net purchases of Rs 93.50 crore on 1 September 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 965.60 crore and gross sales Rs 872.10 crore. The BSE Sensex had lost 115.45 points or 0.74% to 15,551.19 that day, falling for the second day in a row, with the market sentiment hit by a tepid debut of state-run power firm NHPC on the bourses.
Mutual funds bought shares worth a net Rs 570.30 crore in August 2009. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 1825.50 crore in July 2009.
