Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 247.40 crore on Wednesday, 9 September 2009, sharply lower than Rs 1174.60 crore on Tuesday, 8 September 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 247.40 crore on 9 September 2009 was a results of gross purchases Rs 3101.40 crore and gross sales Rs 2854 crore. The BSE Sensex rose 59.88 points or 0.37% to 16,183.55 on that day.
FII inflow in September 2009 totaled Rs 1,597.20 crore (till 9 September 2009). Foreign funds had bought equities worth Rs 4028.80 crore in August 2009. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 41,795.70 crore (till 9 September 2009).
There are a total of 1697 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
