Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 886.10 crore on Tuesday, 15 September 2009, much higher than Rs 262.10 crore on Monday, 14 September 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 886.10 crore on 15 September 2009 was a results of gross purchases Rs 2911.20 crore and gross sales Rs 2025.10 crore. The BSE Sensex surged 240.26 points or 1.48% to 16,454.45 on that day.
FII inflow in September 2009 totaled Rs 3651 crore (till 15 September 2009). Foreign funds had bought equities worth Rs 4028.80 crore in August 2009. FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 43,848.80 crore (till 15 September 2009).
There are a total of 1697 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
