Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1173.90 crore on Wednesday, 16 September 2009, higher than Rs 886.10 crore on Tuesday, 15 September 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 1173.90 crore on 16 September 2009 was a results of gross purchases Rs 3608.90 crore and gross sales Rs 2435 crore. The BSE Sensex surged rose 222.59 points or 1.35% to 16,677.04 on that day.
FII inflow in September 2009 totaled Rs 4,824.90 crore (till 16 September 2009). Foreign funds had bought equities worth Rs 4028.80 crore in August 2009. FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 45,022.70 crore (till 16 September 2009).
There are a total of 1696 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
