Outflow of Rs 291.60 crore on Thursday, 9 July 2009
Foreign funds sold shares worth a net Rs 291.60 crore on Thursday, 9 July 2009, compared to an inflow of Rs 775.50 crore on Wednesday, 8 July 2009. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 4,294 crore in the fist few days of July 2009 (till Thursday, 9 July 2009). The strong inflows this month reflected subscription by foreign funds to qualified institutional placement by Indian firms.
On a cumulative basis, foreign funds bought shares worth Rs 28597.40 crore shares in calendar 2009, till 9 July 2009.
FII outflow of Rs 291.60 crore on 9 July 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2345.30 crore and gross sales Rs 2636.90 crore. The key benchmark indices closed flat that day after moving between positive and negative terrain throughout the day in what was a volatile trading session. The BSE 30-share Sensex lost 11.69 points or 0.08% to 13,757.46
