FM says India must come back to higher growth

Minister Pranab Mukherjee today, 7 July 2009 in his address to Indian industrialists said India must come back to higher growth path at the earliest.

Minister Pranab Mukherjee presented the Union Budget 2009-10 in Lok Sabha on Monday, 6 July 2009. Government plans to bring back the economy to the high GDP growth rate of 9% at the earliest, the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in his 2009-10 budget speech, setting the tone of what is his fourth career budget.

The economy grew 6.7% in 2008-09, slower than 9% or more expansion in the previous three years.
