Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 753.22 crore yesterday, 3 March 2015 compared with net inflow of Rs 489.31 in previous trading session on Monday, 2 March 2015.
The net inflow of Rs 753.22 crore on 3 March 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5741.80 crore and gross sales of Rs 4988.58 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 847.84 crore into the secondary equity market on 3 March 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5739.95 crore and gross sales of Rs 4892.11 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex rose 134.59 points or 0.46% to settle at 29,593.73 on that day, its highest closing level since 29 January 2015.
There was an outflow of Rs 94.62 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 3 March 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 1.85 crore and gross sales of Rs 96.47 crore.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 3985.02 crore in this month so far (till 3 March 2015). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 4039.96 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 3 March 2015). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 11475.53 crore last month. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 5922.37 crore from the secondary markets last month.

FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 97055.90 crore in the calendar year 2014. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 84440.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2014.
