Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 486.78 crore on 9 October 2015, compared with net outflow of Rs 33.80 crore on 8 October 2015.
The net inflow of Rs 486.78 crore from the secondary equity markets on 9 October 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3592.61 crore and gross sales of Rs 3105.83 crore. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 233.70 points or 0.87% to settle at 27,079.51 on 9 October 2015.
There was a net inflow of Rs 1.61 crore from the category 'primary markets & others' on 9 October 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 1.61 crore and gross sales of Rs nil crore.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 2116.91 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 9 October 2015). They sold shares worth a net Rs 11087.28 crore into the secondary equity markets last month.

The outflow of FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 21.18 crore in this month so far (till 9 October 2015). This compares with net inflow of Rs 4612.13 crore into this category in September 2015.
