Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth net Rs 2933.87 crore yesterday, 6 July 2015, compared with their purchases of Rs 353.06 crore during the preceding trading session on 3 July 2015. A lion's portion of the inflow from FPIs yesterday, 6 July 2015, was into the category 'primary market & others'.
The net inflow of Rs 2933.87 crore on 6 July 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5606.78 crore and gross sales of Rs 2672.91 crore. There was net inflow of Rs 207.49 crore into the secondary equity markets on 6 July 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2880.40 crore and gross sales of Rs 2672.91 crore. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, had risen 115.97 points or 0.41% to settle at 28,208.76 on that day, its highest closing level since 17 April 2015.
There was a net inflow of Rs 2726.38 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 6 July 2015.
