Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 176.78 crore during the previous trading session yesterday, 21 May 2015, compared with net inflow of Rs 233.89 crore on 20 May 2015.
The net outflow of Rs 176.78 crore on 21 May 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5939.41 crore and gross sales of Rs 6116.19 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 175.70 crore from the secondary equity market on 21 May 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5938.66 crore and gross sales of Rs 6114.36 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had fallen 27.86 points or 0.1% to settle at 27,809.35 on that day, its lowest closing level since 19 May 2015.
There was a net outflow of Rs 1.08 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 21 May 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.75 crore and gross sales of Rs 1.83 crore.
FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 5867.44 crore in this month so far (till 21 May 2015). They have sold shares worth a net Rs 7999.01 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 21 May 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 12078.12 crore last month. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 10155.09 crore from the secondary markets last month.

They have bought shares worth a net Rs 32130.70 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015 so far (till 21 May 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 97055.90 crore in the calendar year 2014. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 84440.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2014.
