Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 233.89 crore during the previous trading session yesterday, 20 May 2015, compared with net inflow of Rs 2.20 crore on 19 May 2015.
The net inflow of Rs 233.89 crore on 20 May 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4416.14 crore and gross sales of Rs 4182.25 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 123.79 crore into the secondary equity market on 20 May 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4306.04 crore and gross sales of Rs 4182.25 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had risen 191.68 points or 0.69% to settle at 27,837.21 on that day, its highest closing level since 22 April 2015.
There was an outflow of Rs 110.10 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 20 May 2015.
FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 5690.66 crore in this month so far (till 20 May 2015). They have sold shares worth a net Rs 7823.31 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 20 May 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 12078.12 crore last month.
