Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) offloaded shares worth a net Rs 1774.02 crore yesterday, 6 May 2015, compared with their outflow of Rs 448.95 crore during the preceding trading session on 5 May 2015.
The net outflow of Rs 1774.02 crore on 6 May 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5440.09 crore and gross sales of Rs 7214.11 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 1635.84 crore from the secondary equity market on 6 May 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5436.09 crore and gross sales of Rs 7071.93 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex shed 722.77 points or 2.63% to settle at 26,717.37 on that day, its lowest closing level since 17 December 2014.
There was a net outflow of Rs 138.18 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 6 May 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4 crore and gross sales of Rs 142.18 crore.
FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 5241.34 crore in this month so far (till 6 May 2015). They have sold shares worth a net Rs 5277.38 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 6 May 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 12078.12 crore last month. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 10155.09 crore from the secondary markets last month.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 42952.30 crore in calendar year 2015 so far (till 6 May 2015). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 34852.30 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015 so far (till 6 May 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 97055.90 crore in the calendar year 2014. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 84440.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2014.
