Rabi crops sowing moves to 530.22 lakh hectares as on 26 December

Rabi crops coverage remains lower compared with 557.85 lakh hectares same time last year 

As per Rabi Crops data released by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, total area coverage as on today under Rabi crops moves to 530.22 lakh hectares as on 26 December 2014, while sowing area was at 557.85 lakh hectare same last year. 

Wheat's sowing area is at 279.6 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 286.90 lakh hectares. 

The area under sowing of total coarse cereals is at 50.12 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 54.99 lakh hectares. 

The area under sowing of gram is at 77.81 lakh hectares this year while the last year's figure was 90.66 lakh hectares. Area coverage under total pulses is at 124.16 lakh hectares while the last year's sowing area coverage was 134.72 lakh hectares. 

Similarly sowing area under total oilseeds is at 74.06 lakh hectares as compared to 79.03 lakh hectares last year.
