Rabi crop sowing area rises to 511.13 lakh hectares as on 19 December 2014

Wheat sowing area is at 268.26 lakh hectares as compared to last years 273.12 lakh hectares 

As per Rabi Crops data released by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, total area coverage under Rabi crops moved up to 511.13 lakh hectares as on 19 December 2014, while last year's sowing area was at 540.02 lakh hectare. 

Wheat's sowing area is at 268.26 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 273.12 lakh hectares. 

The area under sowing of total Coarse cereals is at 48.24 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 53.88 lakh hectares. 

The area under sowing of Gram is at 75.15 lakh hectares this year while the last year's figure was 89.46 lakh hectares. 

Area coverage under Total Pulses is at 119.89 lakh hectares while the last year's sowing area coverage was 132.79 lakh hectares.

Similarly, sowing area under total oilseeds is at 72.52 lakh hectares as compared to 78.05 lakh hectares last year.
