Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 344.60 crore on Wednesday, 29 April 2009, as against an outflow of Rs 173.90 crore on Tuesday, 28 April 2009.
FII inflow of Rs 344.60 crore on 29 April 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2,869.30 crore and gross sales Rs 2,542.70 crore. The BSE Sensex gained 401.50 points or 3.65% to 11,403.25 on that day.
FII inflow in April 2009 totaled Rs 7,384.50 crore. FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 712.70 crore (till 29 April 2009).
There are a total of 1640 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
