Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 1610.85 crore yesterday, 17 December 2014, which was higher than outflow of Rs 1208.65 crore during the preceding trading session on 16 December 2014.
The net outflow of Rs 1610.85 crore on 17 December 2014 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4468.12 crore and gross sales of Rs 6078.97 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 1617.99 crore from the secondary equity market on 17 December 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4460.83 crore and gross sales of Rs 6078.82 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had lost 71.31 points or 0.27% to settle at 26,710.13 on that day, its lowest closing level since 21 October 2014
There was a net inflow of Rs 7.14 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 17 December 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7.29 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.15 crore.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 4248.37 crore in this month so far (till 17 December 2014).
