Private & Public Sector MFs Witness net inflow in April 2010

Redemptions dip by 19.99% 

Private & Public Sector Mutual Funds (MF) have witnessed net inflows in April 2010 compared with huge net outflows in March 2010. The net inflow of the industry was recorded at Rs 185955.42 crore in April 2010 compared with a net outflow of Rs 162165.89 crore in March 2010. Money has flown into the industry from corporate and financial institutions, who withdrew their mutual fund investment in March in order to meet their quarter end commitments. The mobilisation of funds in the industry has increased by 12.71% in April 2010, when compared with March 2010. On the other hand, the redemptions in the industry had fallen by 19.99% in April 2010. 

Net inflow of private sector MFs was Rs 155071.08 crore in April 2010 which was better than net outflow of Rs 127882.72 crore in March 2010. The UTI mutual fund recorded net inflow of Rs 13686.10 crore and other public sector MFs had net inflow of Rs 17198.24 crore in April 2010. Overall the net inflow of public sector MFs was at Rs 30884.34 crore in April 2010 compared with net outflow of Rs 34283.18 crore in March 2010. 

The MFs mobilisation of fund increased by 12.71% to Rs 1088191.66 crore in April 2010 from Rs 965469.51 crore in March 2010. Private sector MFs' collection increased 16.23% to Rs 835640.11 crore in April 2010 from Rs 718971.76 crore in March 2010. UTI MF collections dipped 12.69% to Rs 92843.79 crore, and others public sector MFs mobilisation increased 13.95% to Rs 159707.76 crore in April 2010. On the whole, public sector MFs mobilisation increased 2.46% to Rs 252551.55 crore in April 2010, compared with the mobilization of Rs 246497.76 crore in March 2010.

The repurchase amount of the industry dipped 19.99% to Rs 902236.24 crore in April 2010 from Rs 1127635.41 crore in March 2010. The redemption amount of private sector MFs declined by 19.64% to Rs 680569.03 crore in April 2010 from Rs 846854.47 crore in March 2010.
UTI MF had witnessed repurchase amount of Rs 79157.68 crore, while other public sector MFs at Rs 142509.53 crore. The redemption amount of public sector MFs declined 21.05% to Rs 221667.21 crore in April over Rs 280780.94 crore in March 2010. 

Net Assets of MF in April 2010 

The net asset of the industry rose to Rs 808541.07 crore in April 2010. Moreover, the net assets of Fund of Funds schemes were recorded at Rs 1640.75 crore in April 2010. Net asset size of private sector mutual funds was at Rs 640600.69 crore, a share of 79.23% in the total net asset size of the industry in April 2010. 

Public sector mutual funds contributed about 20.77% to total net assets of the MF industry in April 2010. Net assets of the public sector mutual funds were at Rs 167940.38 crore in April 2010. Net asset size of UTI MF was worth Rs 80745.58 crore, contributing 9.99% to total mutual fund assets in April 2010. Other public sector MFs contributed 10.78% with assets of Rs 87194.80 crore during the same period.
