Birla Sun Life MF announces changes in Birla Sun Life Basic Industries Fund

With effect from 20 October 2009

Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company (BSLAMC) has decided to carry out following changes to the Scheme Information Document (SID) of Birla Sun Life Basic Industries Fund, an open ended growth scheme with effect from 20 October 2009:

Introduction of a New Plan under the scheme:

Plan: Dividend Trigger

Option: Payout option

Features: Under the Dividend Trigger Plan, it is proposed to declare dividends, subject to the availability of distributable surplus, each time the NAV grows by 10% from the ‘Base NAV'. The first Base NAV shall be Rs. 10 for the purpose of declaration of first dividend under the Plan. Thereafter, the subsequent Base NAV will be Ex-dividend NAV of the plan (NAV derived post declaration of dividend) per unit on the record date and payment of the dividend will considered to be due when the NAV under the Plan reaches a level which is 10% over corresponding Base NAV.

Investors should note that the amount of dividend declared may not necessarily be equal to the absolute growth in Base NAV. The date on which the corresponding Base NAV attains 10% growth shall be the ‘Trigger date' and it is intended to declare dividends within 10 working days from the Trigger date, subject to availability of distributable surplus, in accordance with provisions of SEBI circular no. SEBI/IMD/CIR No.1/64057/06, dated 4 April 2006.

Offer Price: Units of Rs. 10 each at par on 20 October 2009 and at applicable NAV based prices thereafter.

The new plan introduced under the scheme will have the same investment objective, portfolio, liquidity, minimum application amount, applicable load structure and expense ratio as that of existing plans of the scheme. Since, the plan is within an existing portfolio of the scheme, the scheme does not have any target for minimum subscription amount. All other features and terms and conditions of the scheme shall remain unchanged.

Scheme Classification & Objective: Birla Sun Life Basic Industries Fund: (An Open ended Growth Scheme) with the primary investment objective to generate long-term growth of capital, through a portfolio with a target allocation of 100% equity, focusing on investing in companies sensitive to economic cycles and commodity pricing cycles.
