Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 2134.21 crore on Friday, 23 January 2015, which was much higher than inflow of Rs 661.45 crore during the preceding trading session on Thursday, 22 January 2015.
The net inflow of Rs 2134.21 crore on 23 January 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7216.12 crore and gross sales of Rs 5081.91 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 2099.22 crore into the secondary equity market on 23 January 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7181.13 crore and gross sales of Rs 5081.91 crore. The BSE Sensex had risen 272.82 points or 0.94% to settle at 29,278.84 on that day, a record closing high.
There was a net inflow of Rs 34.99 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 23 January 2015.
