Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth net Rs 1510.29 crore on Thursday, 31 July 2014, compared with net outflow of Rs 276.01 crore on Wednesday, 30 July 2014.
The net outflow of Rs 1510.29 crore on 31 July 2014 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7164.77 crore and gross sales of Rs 8675.06 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 1514.56 crore from the secondary equity market on 31 July 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7159.70 crore and gross sales of Rs 8674.26 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had shed 192.45 points or 0.74% to settle at 25,894.97 on that day, its lowest closing level since 21 July 2014.
There was a net inflow of Rs 4.27 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 31 July 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5.07 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.80 crore.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 13123.86 crore in July 2014. FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 13990.75 crore in June 2014.
