FII inflow crosses Rs 8600 crore in January 2010

Inflow of Rs 4744 crore on 11 January 2010 


Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 4744 crore on Monday, 11 January 2010, much higher than Rs 150.80 crore on Friday, 8 January 2010.


FII inflow of Rs 4744 crore on 11 January 2010 was a result of gross purchases Rs 7538.60 crore and gross sales Rs 2794.60 crore. The secondary equity market purchases totaled Rs 4744.70 crore, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 7538.60 crore and gross sales Rs 2793.90 crore. The BSE Sensex fell 13.58 points or 0.08% at 17,526.71 on that day.

There was an outflow of Rs 0.70 crore in the category 'primary market & others'.

FII inflow in January 2010 totaled Rs 8633.50 crore (till 11 January 2010). FII had bought equities worth Rs 11,067.20 crore in December 2009. FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 was Rs 84,258 crore.

There are a total of 1,706 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
