Outflow of Rs 258.30 crore on 21 December 2009
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs
258.30 crore on Monday, 21 December 2009, higher than Rs 83.40 crore on
Friday, 18 December 2009.
FII outflow of Rs 258.30 crore on 21 December 2009 was a result
of gross purchases Rs 1837.40 crore and gross sales Rs 2095.70 crore.
The secondary equity market sales totaled Rs 241.70 crore, which was a
result of gross purchases Rs 1836.40 crore and gross sales Rs 2078.10
crore. The BSE Sensex fell 118.63 points or 0.71% to 16601.20 on that
day.
There was an outflow of Rs 16.60 crore in the category 'primary market
& others', which was a result of gross purchases Rs 1 crore and
gross sales Rs 17.60 crore.
FII inflow in December 2009 totaled Rs 7105 crore (till 21
December 2009). FII had bought equities worth Rs 5469 crore in November
2009. FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 80,295.80 crore
(till 21 December 2009).
There are a total of 1,705 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
