FIIs in selling mode

Outflow of Rs 83.40 crore on 18 December 2009 


Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 83.40 crore on Friday, 18 December 2009 as against an inflow of Rs 489.10 crore on Thursday, 17 December 2009.

FII outflow of Rs 83.40 crore on 18 December 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2234.80 crore and gross sales Rs 2318.20 crore. The secondary equity market sales totaled Rs 89.60 crore, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 2228.30 crore and gross sales Rs 2317.90 crore. The BSE Sensex fell 174.42 points or 1.03% to 16719.83 on that day.

There was an inflow of Rs 6.20 crore in the category 'primary market & others', which was a result of gross purchases Rs 6.50 crore and gross sales Rs 0.30 crore.

FII inflow in December 2009 totaled Rs 7363.30 crore (till 18 December 2009). FII had bought equities worth Rs 5469 crore in November 2009. FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 80,554.09 crore (till 18 December 2009).

There are a total of 1,705 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
