FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 crosses Rs 5000 crore

Inflow of Rs 1240.60 crore on 8 May 2009

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1240.60 crore on Friday, 8 May 2009, much higher than Rs 395.20 crore on Thursday, 7 May 2009.

FII inflow of Rs 1240.60 crore on 8 May 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 3164.60 crore and gross sales Rs 1924 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 240.51 points or 1.98% to 11,876.43 on that day.

FII inflow in May 2009 totaled Rs 4,510.20 crore (till 8 May 2009). FII inflow in calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 5,223 crore (till 8 May 2009).

There are a total of 1648 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
